The Difference

The PrinceCut TM is an Ideal Emerald Cut Diamond with 111 facets. However,it differs from a traditional Emerald Cut in several respects.

The PrinceCut offers "very high" levels of brilliance and scintillation. The differences can clearly be seen when a PrinceCutTM and Emerald Cut are subjected to a light performance analysis, which measures features such as white light, coloured light and scintillation. (see comparison charts on the PrinceCut web site)

Avi Paz, the manufacturer describes this additional brilliance and desperation as the PrinceCutTM "Fire"

A conventional Emerald Cut has only 46 facets. On a large stone, this results in the creation of facets that "waste" white light, thereby reducing the life of the diamond. With 111 facets, the PrinceCutTM is designed to capture and play with light, to create optimum levels of fire and brilliance.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND CUTTING ISSUES

The Prince Cut is a modified emerald shape diamond and was also awarded U.S. and international patents in a baguette shape diamond. There are a total of 111 facets in the Prince Cut: 41 are on the crown and 70 are on the pavilion. The Prince Cut is available in sizes from .10 to 5 carats, colors from D to I and clarities from IF to SI2.

IdealScope Comparison

If we compare the idealscope image of The Princecut (left) to the standard commercially available Emerald cuts (right) we see that the PrinceCut has superior visual performance.

"The best performing emerald cuts have some black and a lot of red to pink evenly balanced around the diamond when viewed through an IdealScope." quote ideal-scope.com.
